Amazon Prime Day starts June 21: How to get deals starting now

The IRS also has a mobile app called IRS2Go that checks your tax refund status. The IRS updates the data in this tool overnight, so if you don’t see a status change after 24 hours or more, check back the following day. The IRS usually issues tax refunds within three weeks, but some taxpayers are waiting over a month to receive their payments. If there are any errors, it might take the agency longer to process and issue your tax refund.

The same goes for people who filed a claim for an earned income tax credit or the child tax credit. (Here’s who qualifies for the child tax credit.) Granted, that stuff goes on sale all the time — a recent Mother’s Day sale revealed savings rivaling Prime Day on a lot of these devices — but the absolute lowest prices are usually reserved for Prime Day and Traffic Engineers Transportation Planners Civil Engineers Black Friday. Another factor: Microsoft said that its Windows 10X OS designed for dual-screen devices like the Surface Duo and the Surface Neo will not actually be released.

Instead, Microsoft will build parts of that technology into other parts of Windows and products from the company, according to a May 18 blog post.  Using the IRS tool Where’s My Refund, enter your SSN or ITIN, your filing status and your exact refund amount, then press Submit. If you entered your information correctly, you’ll be taken to a page that shows your refund status. If not, you may be asked to verify your personal tax data and try again.

If all the information looks correct, you’ll need to enter the date you filed your taxes, along with whether you filed electronically or on paper. What new features will the new Windows 10 redesign include? The update, reportedly code-named Sun Valley, could bring a redesigned Start menu, Action Center, File Explorer and Taskbar, with a more modern look and new features, according to a Windows Central report. From inside Firefox’s main menu — or from inside the three lined menu on the right side of the toolbar — select Preferences.

Once the Preferences window opens, click Privacy & Security. From here, you’ll be able to choose between three options: Standard, Strict and Custom. Standard, the default Firefox setting, blocks trackers in private windows, third party tracking cookies and cryptominers. The Strict setting may break a few websites, but it blocks everything blocked in Standard mode, plus fingerprints and trackers in all windows. Custom is worth exploring for those who want to fine tune how trackers are being blocked.  There are also ways to track your third stimulus check if that hasn’t arrived.

Amazon’s other devices — Echo speakers and displays, Fire TV streamers, Eero mesh routers and so on — will also have major discounts, many of them rivaling (or even beating?) Black Friday.

We made some predictions for  Prime Day pricing on a lot of things we’ve seen on steep discounts in previous years, so be sure to take a look if you were planning to buy one. It could pay to wait. Spoiler alert: Deal quality varies widely from day to day. With the second stimulus check approved in December, each child dependent — age 16 and younger — added $600 each to the household payment. There was no cap on how many children you could claim a payment. That was an increase in the amount per child from the $500 that was part of the first check approved last March as part of the CARES Act, even as the per-adult maximum decreased from $1,200 per adult to $600 in the December stimulus plan.

Ring’s new “Request for Assistance” post format will provide all the same information as usual — including case numbers, investigator contact info, time range and incident area — but it will be accessible to all Neighbors app users.
